Abstract

This article presents a systematic review of success assessment measures in Information Systems (IS), analyzing the evolution of the pioneering model by DeLone & McLean (1992) to contemporary approaches. Methodologically, the study followed the PRISMA protocol, selecting articles available in the Science Direct database, published between 2013 and 2023. The results highlight the transition of criteria to evaluate success in IS from technical (system quality, information and user satisfaction) to broader dimensions (human, organizational and contextual factors). The studies incorporated concepts such as self-efficacy, dynamic capabilities and strategic alignment into success evaluation models, reflecting the complexity of IS. The results also emphasize the importance of aligning IS and organizational strategy, as well as the role of resilience in adverse scenarios. Sectoral and contextual variations are also explored, highlighting the influence of continuous training and integration with existing processes. The predominance of quantitative approaches and the lack of mixed methods were observed, limiting the understanding of contextual nuances. Emerging trends include the incorporation of behavioral dimensions and ecosystem perspectives. The conclusion is that flexible, multidimensional models are essential for capturing the strategic value of information systems, offering insights for managers and researchers.
